Ground covers are the cheapest way to finish a landscape. They fill the space between the specimen planting, hold slopes together, edge the pathways, and stop bare soil from washing out in the wet season.

Pricing works differently here. Lawn turf sells per square meter, plugs and sprigs sell per piece. Blue Grass runs ₱150 to ₱180 per square meter and Frog Grass ₱85 to ₱100. Peanut Grass is the cheapest cover we supply at ₱5 to ₱7 per piece, planted at spacing and left to knit together. Mondo Grass plugs are ₱12 each and Sword Fern clumps are ₱60.

For border and pathway work, Mondo Grass is the default: it holds a clean edge without spreading into the beds. For slopes and large open areas, Peanut Grass covers the most ground for the least money. Volume tiers for plugs start in the hundreds and run to thousands of pieces.

Ground Covers questions

How much do ground cover plants cost in the Philippines?

It depends on whether you buy turf or plugs. Lawn turf sells per square meter: Blue Grass is ₱150 to ₱180 per sqm and Frog Grass is ₱85 to ₱100 per sqm. Plugs and individual plants sell per piece: Peanut Grass is ₱5 to ₱7, Mondo Grass is ₱12 per plug, and Sword Fern is ₱60 per plant. Peanut Grass is the cheapest way to cover open ground.

What is the cheapest way to cover a large area?

Peanut Grass, at ₱5 to ₱7 per piece. It is cutting-grown, planted as rooted plugs or sprigs at spacing, and left to knit together rather than laid as solid turf. That trades time for money: you pay far less per square meter than turf, but the area takes a season to close up. Frog Grass at ₱85 to ₱100 per sqm is the cheaper option if you need instant coverage.

Which ground covers are pool-safe?

4 of the 5: Blue Grass, Mondo Grass, Peanut Grass, Sword Fern. Blue Grass and Mondo Grass are also salt-tolerant, which makes them the choice for a coastal pool deck or a beachfront lawn.

What should I use for borders and pathway edges?

Mondo Grass, sold as 10 to 15 cm plugs at ₱12 each. It holds a defined edge and stays where it is planted instead of running into the beds, which is what separates it from the spreading covers. Sword Fern at ₱60 per clump is the pick for a softer, taller edge in shade.
